Emergers are probably the single most important dry fly pattern for fly fishers. Trout and Grayling seem to pick them over any other stage in the hatch cycle. If you were a trout, you would probably opt for the bug that’s the easiest to catch. Emergers often get stuck in the surface, and are easy preys. Therefore you should always have a selection of emerger patterns in the fly box. These pages contain proven patterns that do catch fish, and match most mayfly hatches. Maybe you’ll find flies that are unusual to your taste. These are mine go-to patterns when fishing for trout and grayling in Norwegian waters.
